Not sure how you gained 11,000 meters in elevation though, given the route avoids most climbs?

Sorry for the late reply, finally got round to filtering out the various spam comments!
Anyhow, yes the altitude was fairly gradual as we were covering up too and over 100 miles a day it was just undulating climbs…
Day 4 for example was over 5000 feet/1500m: details here: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/45779397
Most days were around 3000feet, some over 5000, some around 1500.
So on average it did build up to over 11,000m!
